JOCK

Born: April 10, 1992

Died: February 3, 2002

Breed: B&W Border Collie

Special Talent: Sneaking upstairs to steal the glass cat food bowl full of food and carry it downstairs while holding the bowl with his mouth and taking it to his crate to eat…not dropping any kibble along the way.

Other Talents: Everything, but especially being everyone’s best friend including all children that needed a bathroom buddy while taking a shower, or to take away their fear of going into a dark room.

Special Toys: Anything that he could retrieve in and out of the water, but his favorite was the tennis ball.

Favorite Job: Finding and retrieving, and going to work with me and showing off all his tricks to get treats from class students.

Favorite Places: Snuggling in the corner of my room, riding in my car, under my desk, in the swimming pool, or in bed cuddling in someone’s arms. He was not picky.

Favorite Pets: His family, my friends, but especially my children.

Favorite Games: Playing school with Paige, playing church and taking communion with the girls, and opening up Paige’s Barbie cash register with his paw to get the treats from the drawer she placed there for him.

Favorite Phrases: Go find it Jock, bring it here, in my hand Jock.

Flaws: Many, he was a dog living in a world of humans <<smiling>>

He was not perfect but tried to be with all his heart.

His Most Excellent Skill: Coming when called, he would turn on a dime to come back …unfortunately for the last time on Super Bowl Sunday.

What Would Jock Say If He Could: Not good-bye, see you at the Rainbow Bridge. I am ok. I miss you but I am better now. If I were there I would lick away your tears but I can’t. I want my family to ‘let go’ and just keep me in your heart and remember all the joy I brought into your lives…and how I much I love you and the children. Forgive me for leaving the world so quickly, and please forgive yourself it is not your fault I had to go. God needed another Border Collie to help keep Heaven organized and get all those other pets up here under control. I will see you again.

What Would We Say To Jock If We Could: We miss you terribly. You taught us to appreciate what we had taken for granted because once it is gone it is gone forever. Sorry Jock…we thought you would be with us forever. Our lives changed for the better when you came to us, and we are now forever changed without you here at home. Thank you Jock for helping me raise my children, and all the love you shared with us, and everyone that knew you. The world has lost you but Heaven has gained the most beautiful gift…You Jock, it’s you. We couldn’t love you more not even in our dreams. You are and always will be in our hearts continuing to help us remember all the joy you brought to our lives and everyone that knew you … not the pain of losing you… it hurts still.

With Love: Mommy, Courtlandt, Blaise, Paige, Merit, Saxon, and all the friends you made throughout your lifetime with us. 2/6/2002

DOG OWNER’S PRAYER

Have you a dog in Heaven, Lord?
And do you pat his head?
Does he sit up and beg each night
Before he goes to bed?

Does he look up with soulful eyes
When he sees your smiling face?
Does he wag his feathered tail
When he wants to run a race?

Do you have a dog in Heaven, Lord?
Is there room for just one more?
My faithful dog died today,
He’ll be waiting at your door.

Please take him into Heaven, Lord,
And keep him there for me.
Just feed him, pet him, love him, Lord,
That’s all he’ll ask of thee.
